Comparison of Extractive and Heteroazeotropic Distillation of High-Boiling Aqueous Mixtures

The processes of extractive distillation and heteroazeotropic mixtures containing water a high-boiling component (propionic acid, acetic 1-methoxy-2-propanol) are compared. Entrainers declared in the literature as effective agents for these were selected separating agents. A process simulation AspenPlus V.11.0 is made. Parametric optimization carried out column operation parameters (number stages, feed stage, reflux ratio) that meet minimum energy consumptions ensure production marketable substances determined. It shown more energy-efficient compared to by than 50%, due introduction an entrainer lowers boiling point process. In addition, some cases (acetic acid + with vinyl acetate, propionic hexane, cyclohexane, cyclohexanol), one columns separation flowsheet can be abandoned significantly limited mutual solubility.
